Our retail shop
To celebrate our 180th Year of making Trugs in 2009 we reopened our retail shop at Berwick Court Farm and we welcome visitors to our new shop. Here you will find a good selection of Trugs that you will not find elsewhere. We offer our Royal Sussex Traditional Trugs, still made in the old traditional way, using Sweet Chestnut and Cricket Bat Willow woods, as well as our South Down Modern Trugs that we hand craft using the finest Finnish and Latvian Birch plys.
We know there are copies of our product available from other makers but there is only one place to obtain the genuine, originals and that is at the Thomas Smith Trug Shop! Each Trug is individually signed by the Craftsman who makes it and each has a unique reference number on the bottom as well.
Opening Times:
Our retail shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4.30pm in the winter and 9am – 5pm during the spring, summer and autumn. We close Sundays and Bank Holidays. We may close some weekends when we are attending shows but will always give advance warning on our website and on our telephone answering machine if we are not in the office. When visiting our shop you may find it locked, in which case please follow the signs round to our workshop and one of our Craftsmen will come back round with you to show you our huge selection of Trugs.
